Late afternoon on Tuesday, the Medicine Hat Public School Division posted a statement on its website announcing it will not be participating in the piloting of Alberta’s new K-6 curriculum this fall. “We do not support the curriculum as presented, as it would set back Alberta’s world-class education system in a manner damaging to the learning and well-being of our students,” reads the release. The statement also says the school division is committed to working with Alberta Education to support its review. They will examine the curriculum with staff and members of the community and provide their feedback as soon as they can. The News will follow up this story on Wednesday. 5
