Another spike in Montana’s Hill County

By Medicine Hat News on September 29, 2020.

The Montana County directly south of Medicine Hat is reporting another major spike in coronavirus cases.

Hill County, which surrounds Havre, recorded 21 new cases of the deadly respiratory disease on Monday morning, bringing the number of active cases there to 48.

That comes after new cases were added each day last week, including nine on Sept. 23.

Hill County has a population of 16,400, meaning its active case load is four times greater than Medicine Hat and Cypress County, though its population is only one-quarter the size.

Cumulatively, Hill County has registered 173 total cases compared to 113 in southeastern Alberta (population 75,000).

Across Montana, 306 new cases were announced on Monday in the state of 1 million residents. Active cases total 3,400; about 8,800 were resolved and 177 Montanans had died in connection to the pandemic, including three in Hill County.
