Hill County in Montana records third death

A third death related to COVID-19 has been recorded in Hill County, Mont., the area across the U.S. border from southeast Alberta.

Statistics published by that state’s Department of Public Health shows the fatality added last weekend in the county that includes the town of Havre. No specific details were announced.

The overall number of active cases of the Hill County has been slowly falling since spikes in the mid-summer.

On Wednesday, it remained at 16 active cases despite two new cases as others were registered among 98 total recoveries.

The county recorded its first fatalities from the virus in early August, at which time two other deaths were recorded on nearby reserves, which report figures separately.

Hill County had a population of about 16,400 in 2018.

Statewide, total cases among Montana’s 1 million residents number 9,244, including 139 added on Wednesday.

Of the total, 1,954 were active, 7,150 recovered and 140 people had died.
