Man with history of firearms offence faces nine more

By Medicine Hat News on September 11, 2020.

New charges against a Medicine Hat man with a legal history of gun charges now faces nine more, according to information detailed in Provincial Court on Thursday morning.

Alberta’s organized crime unit, ALERT, announced this week it had arrested Denver Ailsby and four others following a search of an acreage east of Medicine Hat on Sept. 4.

The unit, which has presence in Medicine Hat, did not detail the charges, which were presented in court at Ailsby’s second appearance related to the case.

The list shows eight separate charges for possessing a prohibited firearm, four for failure to comply with court conditions, three drug charges and single charges of unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm, knowingly possessing such a weapon and careless use or storage of a firearm.

Photos released by ALERT on Wednesday show a number of long-guns as well as cross bows authorities say were seized in a Sept. 4 search.
