Woman seriously injured in moped collision with truck

A serious traffic collision on Thursday afternoon resulted in a woman being air lifted to Calgary.

About 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 3 a moped being driven by a 35-year old Medicine Hat female was northbound on S. Railway Street. As she approached the intersection at Fifth Street SE she made an abrupt lane change and collided with the passenger side of a northbound Ford F450 truck towing an unloaded flat deck trailer.

The moped operator incurred substantial injuries was taken to Calgary by air ambulance with serious life-threatening injuries, say police.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The police traffic unit continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision.

“Operating any vehicle requires the utmost attention at all times, especially on ‘small vehicles’ including mopeds, motorcycles, power bicycles and mobility aids,” states a police report.
