A fire ban in Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park will remain in place through the long weekend. Hot, dry weather in late August led to Alberta Parks to put restrictions on all wood and charcoal fires in the park, and counties in southeast Alberta have put similar measures in place. Cypress County and the County of Forty Mile also revoked burn permits and prohibited the use of burning barrels, fireworks, solid fuel barbecues on August 26. Similar measures are in place in all rural municipalities in Southwest Saskatchewan with the exception of Big Stick and Fox Valley. Saskatchewan Parks has also imposed fire restrictions in the West and Centre blocks of the Cypress Hills, Cypress Lake Recreation Area, and Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park. 6
