Gas station owner will plead not guilty to his assault charges

A representative for Anwar Kamaran appeared virtually in provincial court Thursday morning, noting that Kamaran would plead not guilty to his charges.

Kamaran, a former Alberta Liberal candidate and the owner of Walsh Save On Gas, is facing one charge of assault and two counts of assault causing bodily harm following a series of altercations last month.

The RCMP confirmed to the News that Kamaran allegedly assaulted a female in Walsh on Aug. 8. After being apprehended and released, he allegedly assaulted two men the next day. RCMP confirmed all the victims are in the same family.

His trial date is set for Oct. 19.
