Work to begin on Stevenson Street Road construction work on Stevenson Street will start on Tuesday, the city says. Stevenson Street is in the community south of the Trans-Canada Highway between Southridge Drive, the highway and Strachan Road. The section that will be affected is between Southridge Drive and Strong Avenue. This work will address aging underground storm water infrastructure, concrete replacement and road reconstruction. During construction, Stevenson Street will be closed to motorists. Traffic detours will be set up to allow traffic around the work zone. Pedestrian underpass art Hatters will notice new works of artistic expression taking place in the Second Street SE pedestrian underpass. The Southern Alberta Pop-up Parks Association, working with Mural Fest, will be doing the art installations this weekend. The Second Street pedestrian underpass is an important link to the city’s downtown from N. Railway Street. Built in 1950s, the structure has provided pedestrians with easy access to downtown under the railway lines. The pedestrian underpass will remain open while the painting is taking place so that the public can watch the artists as they work. 19
