Medicine Hat Fire Services responded to a fire at a house in the Parkview area around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Platoon chief Tom Coffey says firefighters from all three local stations responded to the call and quickly got the blaze under control. An investigation is ongoing in regard to the cause.
“It was reported as smoke showing coming from the vent in the roof at that location,” said Coffey. “It ended up being a working fire in the basement … they managed to get it under control fairly quickly – got to the scene of the fire, extinguished it and got rid of some hot spots in the basement area and cleared the smoke out.”
Coffey added he is not aware of any injuries related to the fire. Investigators remained on scene as of Wednesday evening.
