gslade@medicinehatnews.com@MHNGillianSlade A police investigation after a fatality that involved a motorcycle about 10 days ago, is now complete. On July 20 a single-vehicle accident, a motorcycle being driven by a woman on Highway 3 near the Holsum Road intersection, at the west end of the airport, resulted in a fatality. Medicine Hat Police Service thought there may have been a malfunction of the equipment that contributed to the fatality and the motorcycle was sent away for testing. Acting Sgt. of the traffic unit, Darren Holeha, told the News on Wednesday that the results are back and there was no malfunction. “There was nothing found,” said Holeha. “It’s just a tragic accident. There was no criminal or traffic violations or anything like that. We extend our condolences to the family.” It is difficult to know what might have been at play at the time, he said. MHPS has decided not to release the name of the woman, which is standard practise. 9
