Medicine Hat Police Service seized several prohibited weapons after carrying out a criminal code search warrant at a residence on Ross Street SE on Thursday.
Members of the MHPS ALERT organized crime section attempted to execute a warrant relating to the importation and possession of a prohibited weapon, according to an MHPS release. Upon attempting to arrest a male on these charges, the accused barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to exit.
The release goes on to state that the accused male assaulted an officer in the standoff and was struck in the leg with a police impact weapon as a result.
