Real estate company Avenue Living donated $10,000 to the Medicine Hat Food Bank last month, part of $100,000 in food bank donations by the company across Western Canada.

“We really try to reach out to the community,” said Marilyn Henderson, a manager at Avenue’s Medicine Hat office. “We are appreciative that we have local residents here, we try to look out for them.”

The company donated to 17 food banks in all, and said in its April 24 press release it’s offering reduced rental rates to nurses, veterans, law enforcement, students and seniors.

Henderson noted Avenue didn’t have to lay off any workers in Medicine Hat as a result of the pandemic.

“I’m really proud to say how Avenue Living has responded,” she said.
