By Medicine Hat News on May 9, 2020.

Five arrests have been made after a joint investigation by police agencies in southeast Alberta.

Foremost-Bow Island RCMP announced Friday that an investigation in property crime in the village of Foremost over the winter culminated in a search warrant on May 6 that allegedly produced stolen property, a firearm and drugs.

In total, 24 charges have been laid against five individuals who are scheduled to appear in Medicine Hat provincial court later this summer.

Madison Boyd, 18, and Brandon Sawatzky, 26, each face a count of unlawfully possessing a firearm and unsafe storage, along with other charges. They and two others – Jacqueline Bourassa, 36, and Chason Rose, 28, who were charged with drug possession and trafficking – are to appear in court on Aug. 26.

Vance Pidborochynski, 30, was initially taken into custody and charged with four counts of possessing stolen property, two charges of drug trafficking and two counts of breaching court conditions, but obtained bail and is to appear in court on July 16.

The investigation was aided by the Redcliff RCMP detachment and Medicine Hat Police Service as part of the ALERT unit.

The Bow Island RCMP continue to investigate.
