Two COVID patients at Medicine Hat hospital

Medicine Hat Regional Hospital has admitted two patients with COVID-19, Alberta Health Services says.

The number of COVID-19 positive cases in the south zone has soared recently from the zone with the lowest number of cases to third in the province behind Calgary and Edmonton.

According to information released on Monday afternoon by Dr. Deena Hinshaw there are 2,077 cases in Calgary, 438 in Edmonton and the south zone has 156. The north zone has 143, central zone 77 and there are 17 cases not yet assigned to a zone.

The largest surge of cases in the south zone is in Brooks with 115 cases, according to information released Monday afternoon. Medicine Hat has had 15 COVID-19 positive cases but only five are still active with 10 already recovered.

Lethbridge has 11 cases with three active, Cypress County eight cases with seven active. Both cases in Forty Mile and in Taber have recovered. Lethbridge county has one active case and there is one in County Newell that is active.
