Hatters are being asked to use caution and follow health authority restrictions this weekend as warmer weather and the Easter holiday approaches.
Local emergency planning officials are urging residents to stay home and practise preventable measures agains the spread of COVID-19.
“The virus is still spreading,” said Merrick Brown, the city’s director of emergency management. “If people start to gather this weekend and we loosen our efforts… we would undo all the containment measures that we have put in place over these last few weeks.
“We know it’s difficult, but it’s imperative.”
Provincial public health orders bars gatherings larger than 15, including outdoors, and a mandatory 14-day isolation period for international travellers and 10-day period for those with symptoms.
The orders are enforceable by fines.
Support line
The community support telephone line for resident’s inquiries will be closed in Friday for the holiday, but will reopen on Monday, April 13, at 9 a.m., the city announced on Wednesday.
The line, accessible at 403-529-8106, typically operates on weekdays from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m.

Transit changes
City buses will also not be operating on the Good Friday holiday, but will be put back in service on Saturday, April 11. Easter Monday will see the service run on non-peak services schedule from 6:45 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.
