Land rezoning, committee reports on the agenda for online city council meeting

A summary of the posted agenda of the Medicine Hat city council meeting scheduled for Monday, April 6. Due to public health restrictions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, public and media are not permitted to attend, but proceedings will be broadcast on the city’s website (www.medicinehat.ca) starting at 6:30 p.m. until conclusion.

Agenda:

– Adoption of the Agenda (items many be added, deleted, or rearranged).

– Adoption of previous council minutes;

– Public Hearings:

Required – A land rezoning matter that would allow the property at 390 Aberdeen St. S.E., to became a “mixed use” zone, thereby allowing the potential owner to convert the existing home to become a counselling office;

Non-statutory – a proposal on “Direct Control land at 603 First St. S.E. (a city-owned parking lot), for a private developer to build a five-storey hotel following a successful sale;

Administrative committee (March 18) – 1.) Tender, trailer pumps (Municipal works dept.); 2.) Tender, water and sanitary sewer replacement at Fifth Street and Foundry Street (Environmental utility dept.);

Public services committee (March 23) – Closed Meeting (no action or public minutes);

Corporate services committee (March 24) – Continuous Supplementary Assessment Bylaw (a bylaw to provide staff ability to adjust new construction into tax roll without annual council approval);

Administrative committee (March 25) – 1.) Tender, gang mowers (Parks and recreation dept.); 2.) Tender, water and sanitary sewer work at Forth Ave. N.E., and 10th Avenue S.W. (Environmental utilities dept.); 3.) Utility relief program – COVID-19;

Administrative committee (April 1) – 1.) Memorandum of agreement with Cypress County (firefighting services); 2.) tender, city hall parkade, (Corporate asset management); 3.) Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework and Intermunicipal Development Plan (notice of approval by three parties);

Heritage resources committee meeting minutes (March 10);

– New Bylaws: Bylaw No. 4620 – prepare a supplementary assessment bylaw for 2020 tax year;
