Literacy Lane owners Laurie Haliwyz-Way and Lisa Warken are hoping to help kids learn from home while schools across the province are closed.
The pair is well known locally for auditioning for Dragons’ Den and they have modified a number of their classroom products to fit households.
“Basically, we’ve shrunk down Literacy Lane to make it accessible to parents and children,” said Warken. “We know kids need to be moving around the house during the day, and we’re offering them some more structured activities with these.
“Our products get kids away from the computer or TV for a bit of moving.”
They are selling the items at cost, with the hopes of helping families out.
“These are troubled times and we’re in the position to try and help people,” said Haliwyz-Way. “We just think this is a cool resource that can help families out.”
The women say they will be posting videos on their social media pages in the future of different ways to use their tools.
“We have so many different applications and fun ways to use these,” said Warken. “We’ll be sharing ideas as time goes on to help people out.”
The pair will be demoing products today on their Literacy Lane Facebook page.
