A Winter Water art show is taking place downtown every Tuesday afternoon this month from noon to 5 p.m.
The exhibition by local artists was initiated by the South East Watershed Alliance (SEAWA) and is taking place in the downtown Arcade Plaza on Third Street, a few doors up from 20/20 Vision.
Martha Munz Gue, communications committee for SEAWA, says the exhibit features snow, ice or frost depicted in watercolour, acrylic, glass, photographs, poetry and clay. Some of the artwork is also for sale by the artists.
The decision was made to have a winter-focused exhibit after a successful art show late last summer. Munz Gue says there was space available in the Arcade Plaza and they were willing for it to be used for the exhibit. SEAWA is grateful for the generous donation of the storefront for this purpose.
It means there is an art exhibit that can be seen as you walk down Third Street and have the opportunity to view each piece of art up closer on Tuesday afternoons this month.
SEAWA also has on display fact sheets about water quality, riparian areas and endangered species. There are brochures about wildflowers and native bees in the watershed. There are also books to look at about birding trails, the South Saskatchewan River and valley, the wild horses of Suffield, another is about prairie plants and wildflowers.
Munz Gue says the books are projects of Grasslands Naturalists and may be purchased at the Nature Centre at Police Point Park.
If groups would like an opportunity to tour the exhibit at times other than Tuesday afternoons, arrangements can be made by calling 403-878-5973 or 403-580-8980.
