A single item can launch a fascinating conversation and that is the purpose of Sawubona. The opening reception for Sawubona will take place Thursday, 10 a.m. at the Veiner Centre. Sawubona is a Zulu greeting that means “we see you.” The idea is for participants to bring an item to the event. Ideally they would be willing to share information about the item that would be of interest to others. The items could be of special cultural significance – it could be related to a special memory in their own life, perhaps a photograph, an item of clothing or an artifact. Organizers are hoping it will spark conversations. There is no entrance fee and everyone is welcome. 8
