The Hat Grannies for Africa are gearing up for their annual Fabric, Yarn and More sale happening next month.
The event is taking place March 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. John’s church downtown. Sale co-ordinator Joanie Gilchrist says the group is always looking for more product to sell.
“We’re always looking for more,” she said. “Anything to do with sewing, quilting, knitting crocheting – anything to do with fibre arts.
“We also welcome donations of things like sewing machines.”
The event is first-come, first served and Glichrist says it can be quite busy right at 9 a.m.
“Last year we had about 100 people waiting to come in right at the start,” she said. “Our total sales that we submitted was $9,400 – that was pretty amazing.”
Money raised goes to the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign, a not-for-profit that Glichrist says the Grannies are happy to support.
She says it is projecting to be a good year.
“We have a lot of really good yarn this year,” she said. “It varies from year to year on what we get and this year looks like a really good one for yarn.”
