The Medicine Hat Skateboard Association is working on bringing an indoor skate park to life.

The group began construction Sunday on the indoor park in the city’s southwest and it is hoping to open it next month.

“There’s a lot of work to do,” said volunteer Jordan Mogck. “We’re going to try our best to make this happen.”

The group is hoping to open for the first time on Feb. 9 for a SkateSkool session.

Construction will continue with the group installing bathrooms, ramps, rails and more to fill the space.

“It’s really going to be good for all ages,” said Mogck. “It’s going to be a great place for kids to learn, even ones that have never skated before.

“It’ll be perfect for the older guys like me as well – we’re excited.”
