January tends to be the best month of the year for folk music fans in the city – this year is no different.
The annual Tongue on the Post Music Festival is slated to kick off Jan. 20 with a large number of events throughout the week.
“There’s a lot to be excited for this year, we’ve got some epic stuff,” said executive director Rob Pape. “This year we’re really heavy on the singer-songwriter side of things. We don’t have any big, large bands. It’s mostly solo and duo artists from across Canada.”
TOP Fest is in its 14th year and is offering a number of different ticket packages. Pape says the talent level will be as high as ever.
“Canada is full of talented artists,” he said. “There’s no shortage of talent for us to bring in and we do our best to put on the best show possible.”
The festival features a number of local musicians to entertain Hatters for the week.
“Medicine Hat is a great place for musician talent,” he said. “We try and showcase that every year with our festival.
“There’s a lot of names people will recognize and maybe some others people haven’t seen yet.
“We really hope to put the spotlight on our community every year.”
Pape says the festival is trying to work through technical difficulties on its website, but urged people to get tickets in person or to find the Tongue on the Post Music Festival 2020 page on Facebook.
“We want to apologize for the website issues,” he said.
Tickets can be found at Zucchini Blossom, Medalta, Framing and Art Centre and Mike’s Meats. They can also be found on eventbrite.ca
