A Medicine Hat woman is facing criminal charges connected to an estimated $315,000 stolen from an unnamed local restaurant, says the Medicine Hat Police Service Major Crime Section. According to a news release, the MHPS concluded an internal investigation on Dec. 20 into Nianjiao Yang, who’s been charged with theft and fraud over 5,000. Her first scheduled appearance in court is on Jan. 22. Yang is allegedly responsible for several thefts within the company between October 2016 and September 2019, and police say she held a manager position at the restaurant during the offences. It is believed the 36-year-old’s alleged thefts were only in relation to the one business, based on the investigation to date. 5
