MHPS charge Hat man with breaking and entering

By Medicine Hat News on December 3, 2019.

Cops caught a break-and-enter suspect in the act in the early hours of Sunday morning.

In early November, Medicine Hat police received a complaint that an individual was repeatedly breaking into a business at the 100 block of Southwest Drive SW and stealing.

Upon further investigation, police were able to determine what time of day these incidents were occurring.

While monitoring the business on Sunday, they saw their suspect attempting to break into the business and arrested him.

Joseph Kshanowski, 52, of Medicine Hat faces three counts of break and enter, and one count each of possessing break and enter tools, possessing stolen property under $5,000 and possession of methamphetamine.

He appeared before a justice of the peace and has been released on a promise to appear in court Dec. 19.

“The theft of precious metals is a prevalent crime in Medicine Hat,” police said in a news release announcing the arrest.

“Please be diligent in securing your property and the storage of valuable items that attract the attention of criminals.”
