Power was knocked out to about 500 addresses in north Redcliff and the Box Springs area on Thursday morning after a truck knocked down two power poles. The collision happened at about 5:50 a.m. when a transport truck struck the poles and became ensnarled in the wires. Affected were Broadway Avenue and portions of Redcliff north of the Trans-Canada Highway, as well as southern portions of the Box Springs Business Park in Medicine Hat. City crews restored power to about half the area by 8 a.m., then all but five customers by 11 a.m. An afternoon statement from the utility department said they expected repair work to continue for most of the day. 5
