The South East Hill Neighbourhood Association is hoping to spread a bit of Holiday cheer this Christmas season.
The organization is hosting a Stuff the Whale event Saturday at Central Park – inviting Hatters to Central Park to donate toys and board games to the Santa Claus Fund.
“We wanted to do something with the Hill community for Christmas,” said events co-ordinator Alison Jacques. “We came up with the idea to utilize the whale to help another organization in the community.
“With Christmas coming up we figured it was the perfect time to do something for the Santa Claus Fund.”
The event is called stuff the whale because the group will be packing the slide with all toys and board games from 1-3 p.m.
“Our goal is to bring our community together, but to also bring people up to the Hill,” she said. “We’re going to have Santa here, hot chocolate, treats, candy canes and snacks for all the kids in the community.”
Jacques says the event is not exclusive to south east Hill residents, and anyone from any area of the city is welcome to join in on the fun
“We know that board games are a need because the Santa Claus Fund likes to give one to every family – that’s why we’re asking for those specifically,” said Jacques. “People can also bring toys or cash – all of it will go to the Santa Claus Fund.”
