Two councillors will field questions from residents next week in a third annual Town Hall meeting. Phil Turnbull made it an election promise in 2017 to hold a public meeting annually to hear the concerns of residents, and this year, Coun. Darren Hirsch will also take part. “The agenda is simply for citizens to ask questions,” said Turnbull. “If there’s any misconceptions, we’d like to clear those up, and if I don’t know that answer, we’ll take email addresses and get back.” The event takes place at Medicine Hat College, Room S-159, on Wednesday starting at 7 p.m. Turnbull said that most formal communication with elected officials deals with planning decisions, taxation and construction delays on city projects. Less formally, people also have questions about things such as street light outages or utility fees. “We get a lot of feedback,” he said. This year, Turnbull expects questions about the city’s decision to shut in natural gas wells, power sales and city finances to be heard. 9
