Medalta’s annual Heritage Christmas Market kicked off Friday afternoon and is running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.
The markets have been taking place for roughly 20 years and are one of the longest running Christmas markets in the community.
“As well as having the gallery full of vendors, we’re going to have vendors in our reception area,” said marketing and communications co-ordinator Jessica Knodel. “It’s great because the artists who are selling the items are the ones who made them, so any questions can be asked during the market.
“Some of our vendors have been here at our shows for 20 years, others are here for the first time.”
Knodel says there will be a wide selection for Hatters to choose from.
“We have photographers, fibre arts, jewellery, ceramics – any sort of art you can think of, it’s here,” she said.
On top of the market, there is a final reception for Grace Han’s show, which is made up of multiple parts. Touch the Conversation: Fermenting New Old is located Kiln 2 and Touch the Conversation: Two Shelves is located in the Yuill Family Gallery.
The reception is taking place from 2-4 p.m. Saturday and is also free to attend.
During the market there will be crafts for kids to paint their own ceramics for free.
“We’re having an area for kids where they can make an ornament,” said Knodel. “It’s free – they get to paint a little ceramic ornament and they can take it home right then.”
The day will also feature live music and a bar.
