The Medicine Hat and District Chamber of Commerce has a new president.

Tracy Noullett works as a chartered accountant with MNP and has sat on the Chamber board for the past few years.

She says the position of president rotates annually and the nominee has to have sat on the board for three years.

“It’s a nice way to bring it in, make sure that there’s teamwork involved and that you’re not all of a sudden slammed with a whole bunch of responsibility and that you’ve been part of the decision making for some time,” said Noullett.

She says she’s amazed by the extent of the Chamber’s community involvement.

“I’m constantly finding out new aspects to what we do and how we help. It’s really quite impressive the leadership we take in this community,” Noullett says. “There’s always new stuff coming this way. There’s always new advocacy. There’s always changes in legislation we’re part of. It’s always an interesting ride.”

A major responsibility of the president and board, she says, is to “put the best people in the best spots.”

“It’s not about the president. It’s about putting the people who are most talented in that area and that focused into that spot, so we are giving the best answers that we can as a Chamber member,” said Noullett.

The Chamber is in the process of drafting its agenda for the new year, which she says will “focus on value for our members.”

“It’s not about us, it’s about our members,” Noullett said.
