College hosting Hemp and Cannabis Conference for business owners, job seekers and more

By Medicine Hat News on November 20, 2019.

Medicine Hat College is hosting a Hemp and Cannabis Conference on Friday, bringing together business owners, job seekers and potential start-ups.

The event – hosted by APEX Alberta – will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and feature talks from five industry experts followed by a networking luncheon.

“This conference is an opportunity to share information and knowledge of the hemp and cannabis sectors in our region,” says MHC manager of business development Tracy Stroud, who’s also a member of APEX.

“We hope to foster relationship building in these sectors, and for attendees to make informed decisions, either for their own career choices or growth opportunities for their business.”

Alberta is the second-biggest producer of hemp in the country after Saskatchewan, she added.

“A recent study for these sectors in Medicine Hat, Brooks, and southeastern Alberta, uncovered that there is over a dozen companies existing or proposed for the region. This means not only job opportunities, but business to business opportunities,” said Stroud.

Tickets to this event are $35 and can be purchased through Eventbrite. Participants must be 18 years of age and older.
