A woman was hospitalized with minor injuries after a three-vehicle collision Monday morning. According to police, the collision occurred about 8:15 a.m. at Division Avenue and Eighth Street NW after a Ford truck slowed down for traffic at a red light. It was hit from behind by a Kia Sorento, which was itself hit by a Chevrolet Impala. The female driver of the Kia was transferred to the hospital, while none of the other vehicle occupants were injured. As a result of the collision, traffic flow was reduced to one lane moving north and another moving south, but by 9:30 a.m. it was back to normal. Total damage to the vehicles is pegged at $8,000. An investigation is ongoing by the Medicine Hat Police Service Traffic Unit, with charges a possibility depending on its outcome. Acting traffic Sgt. Darren Holeha told the News on Monday afternoon that the investigation was at about the halfway point. He said they’re waiting on the woman who was hospitalized to get assessed and provide her statement, as well as other witnesses. “We just want to make sure that we get all the witness statements and the statements of the drivers, go over those and see if anyone was at fault, or if it was a truly unknown at fault accident,” Holeha explained. 11
