Medicine Hat police have released a surveillance image of the individual who robbed the Carry Drive 7-Eleven convenience store Wednesday night.

The individual in question is seen wearing a grey hoodie, sunglasses, and a black and green bandana over their face.

He brandished a weapon, although nobody was injured, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise.

Although police issued a news release informing the public of the investigation Thursday, Staff Sgt. Chad Holdt says access to surveillance footage typically takes some time.

It’s also not always the first course of action, he added.

“Sometimes the investigators will want to wait to follow up initial leads first before releasing anything and asking for public assistance,” said Holdt. “But sometimes it’s just a delay in technology.”

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact the MHPS at 403-529-8481 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800 -222-8477 (TIPS). Tips may also be submitted (anonymously if preferred) through the MHPS Mobile App.
