Arrest made after vehicle clocked at 226 km/h on Trans-Canada Highway near Brooks

A 20-year-old man has been arrested after clocking in a speed of 226 km/h on the Trans-Canada Highway near Brooks.

The vehicle was caught around 9:45 p.m. Saturday after a patrolling officer of the Brooks RCMP saw the westbound vehicle travelling at an abnormally high speed.

“The vehicle had recently passed several other vehicles at this speed, putting other users of the roadway at significant risk,” according to an RCMP news release.

A Brooks man faces one count of dangerous operation of a conveyance and will appear in Brooks Provincial Court on Sept. 25.

The accused cannot be named until the charge is officially sworn against him, which will occur at some point before his first appearance.
