More than $120,000 worth of drugs and cash were seized on July 13, 2019 following a two-month investigation by ALERT Medicine Hat's organized crime team.
Medicine Hat police believe they’ve just made what is the largest methamphetamine seizure in the city’s history. More than $120,000 worth of drugs and cash was seized following a two-month investigation.
ALERT’s Medicine Hat organized crime team, with assistance from the Medicine Hat Police Service and the Brooks RCMP, arrested five people on July 13. Four were at two residences in Medicine Hat and one in a traffic stop on the Trans-Canada Highway near Brooks on July 13.
Over the two-month investigation, police seized 1.13 kilograms of methamphetamine, 156 grams of cocaine, 7 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 207 tablets of illicit prescription drugs, three cans of pepper spray, a replica firearm and $34,145 cash proceeds of crime.
The methamphetamine seizure exceeds the previous Medicine Hat record of 1.02 kg of meth seized in December 2017 during a traffic stop just inside the city limits.
Rosalind Blade, 65, of Medicine Hat is charged with two counts each of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of proceeds of crime and five counts of breach of recognizance.
Bobby-Jo Blade, 38, of Medicine Hat, is charged with five counts of trafficking a controlled substance, three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of proceeds of crime and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
Harley Simons, 44, of Medicine Hat, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Angie Blade, 25, of Medicine Hat, is charged with breach of recognizance and Guled Shideh, 34, of Edmonton, is charged with possession of proceeds of crime.
