Medalta hosting a night of good times with Booze, Burgers and Bands

Live music, beer and food – is there a better combo?
Hatters have a chance to watch a handful of bands fight it out in a battle of the bands-style event Friday at Medalta during the first ever Booze, Burgers and Bands event.
“The event is being held by the Society of the Friends of the Monarch in support of the theatre,” said one of the organizers Lorraine Dalla-Longa. “We’re going to have beer from Medicine Hat Brewing Company, wine, burgers and four or five bands that will be voted on throughout the evening.
“Everyone with a ticket can vote for their favourite band.”
The winning band of the night receives a $1,000 recording contract with the recording company Octane.
The night will feature rock, country and western musical acts and Dalla-Longa says the hope is to raise at least $5,000 for the 106-year-old theatre.
“We’re fixing the back wall and we’re trying to get money to the roof,” she said. “It’s an older building and right now the roof is just in need of repairs.
“It’s a historic building and people love coming – it’s one of the last landmarks downtown that pertains to the history of Medicine Hat.”
Tickets for the event are available at the door for $15 and each one includes one burger.
