There will be another byelection in the town of Maple Creek, where voters will go to the polls for a third time in about 16 months in July. This summer’s vote comes after the resignation of town councillor Kevin Rittinger at Tuesday’s council meeting. July 17 was set as voting day to fill the vacant seat with advanced polling on July 3. Last November a byelection in the town filled the former seat of Michelle Mackenzie, who was elected mayor last spring during a mid-term election to replace former Mayor Barry Rudd. Reports in the Maple Creek News state Rittinger has moved out of town and was no longer eligible to remain on council. 5
