Hatters living with chronic pain are invited to join an Alberta Health Services series of workshops to help them manage their pain. The Better Choices, Better Health is a six-week series provided free of charge and facilitated by trained volunteers, many of whom also live with chronic pain. Chronic pain may stem from a variety of causes but all participants have one important thing in common – living with pain every day. The workshop includes teaching tools and techniques common to all chronic pain and an understanding that there is no one treatment that is right for everyone. Workshop topics include overcoming the physical and emotional challenges of living with chronic pain, moving easy with pacing and planning, nutrition, active living choices, setting personal goals and acting on your plans. The workshops take place from 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays from March 13 to April 17 at Medicine Hat Public Library. Participants are welcome to bring a friend or family member with them. Please register in advance by calling 403-529-8969 or toll free 1-866-795-9709. 8
