Police have released a surveillance photo of a car believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run about two weeks ago.

The vehicle is suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run near the 2300 block of 11 Avenue NE on Dec. 17 around 10:20 a.m.

Medicine Hat Police Service Traffic Unit Sgt. Clarke White told the News the image was taken from a video surveillance system from the front of a nearby house and that it was being released because the police were having difficulty tracking the suspect down.

“We have the video available, so we’ll put it out there and see if anyone can help us in identifying it, or even providing any other information that will help us determine who was driving or where the vehicle might be located,” said White, who described the accident as a “minor property damage collision.”

The car is a 2015 Kia Sportage with a colour described by the manufacturer as “Burnt Orange”.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Traffic Unit at 403-529-8471. Anonymous tips can also be called into Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
