Swift Current Municipal RCMP are asking for help locating Colton Koop.

The last confirmed sighting of Koop, 26, was in the early morning hours of Nov. 16. That same morning Mounties received a call about a 2014 red Dodge Ram 1500 in the Swift Current Creek. The Swift Current Fire Department and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team confirmed there were no occupants in the vehicle or in the water immediately under or near the truck.

The investigation found the incident was an accident, in which the truck, southbound on Sixth Avenue SE, crossed the road, went through a guardrail and into the creek. The incident may have taken place as early as 2 a.m. but wasn’t reported until 6 a.m.

RCMP are asking for the assistance of residents in the area of this accident to check their yards and outbuilding for anything that maybe unusual or out of place.

The registered owner of this vehicle has confirmed Colton would have had access to this truck prior to this incident.

The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team returned to the scene Friday to continue the search.

RCMP say Koop is not subject to any criminal investigation or charges at this time. This matter is being treated as a missing person investigation as the RCMP attempt to locate Koop for his family.

Anyone with knowledge of Colton’s whereabouts are asked to contact their local RCMP Detachment, City Police Service, the Swift Current City RCMP Detachment at 306-778-4870 or Crimestoppers.
