Those who depend on special transit to meet their physical requirements to get from place to place will still have that option on Christmas Day.

One special transit vehicle will be available Dec. 25 “for those who absolutely require it,” said Simon Amos, the city’s manager of community access. “We take bookings from existing clients on a case-by-case basis. These are usually clients in motorized wheelchairs as it is difficult for them to get alternative transportation.”

Amos says a typical Christmas sees about six to eight clients.

Operating hours for regular and special transit will change over the Holidays:

Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, regular transit will operate from 6:45 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. and special transit from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Regular transit will be closed Christmas Day.

Boxing Day, Dec. 26, regular transit will operate from 10:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. and special transit from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, regular transit will operate from 6:45 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. and special transit from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2019, regular transit will operate from 10:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. and special transit from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
