Six railcars were derailed in Canadian Pacific’s Medicine Hat rail yard on Sunday night.

It happened about 8 p.m. and a total of six rail cars were derailed. None of the affected rail cars were loaded with any product at the time, said a spokesperson for Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd. in an emailed response to questions.

There were no injuries sustained as a result of the incident and there was no need for concern for public safety at any stage.

CP dispatched teams to the site immediately to respond to the situation, says CP. The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
