Natural gas rate down for December, power rate capped again

By Medicine Hat News on December 3, 2018.

There’s a little bit of nice and a little bit of naughty for when it comes to December utility prices in Medicine Hat.

The natural gas rate has been set at $1.969 per gigajoule, down from $2.285 in November.

On the flip side, power will go up slightly. The December price has been set at the capped rate of 6.800-cents per kilowatt hour, up from 6.385-cents in November. The actual market price based on the average of other rates in the province is 7.585-cents

The city bases its commodity prices on the average of regulated rate offerings in the province by private distribution company.

Alberta’s high natural gas rate for December is $2.004 at Direct Energy, while the low is $1.934 at AltaGas.

The high power rate is 7.769 at Epcor Energy Alberta GP (Edmonton) with the low at 7.734 at Enmax Energy Corporation
