Wet snow and flurries blanket the region

Motorists drive down Dunmore Road in Medicine Hat on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018. Winter weather blanketed the region, causing issues on city roads and highways.

Plows were out in Medicine Hat and the region on Friday mornings as wet snow and flurries moved into southeast Alberta over night.

In Medicine Hat, police reported a jackknifed semi and backups on the Kin Coulee dip before 8:30 a.m.

Motorists on Highway 3 reporting snow and ice covered roads and reduced visibility at 9 a.m., while the Trans-Canada Highway around Brooks was partly covered. Blowing snow and wet conditions were reported closer to Medicine Hat, along Highway 41 south of Highway 1.

North of the Trans-Canada, No. 41 was covered with snow and ice north of Schuler.

In Saskatchewan, travel is not recommended on the Trans-Canada Highway between Swift Current and Gull Lake, according to that province’s roads report at 9 a.m.

Winter driving conditions stretch across the entire southern part of the province, including Kindersley southward in the southwest quadrant.

Montana Transportation is reporting scattered wet conditions on all major routes around Havre, and scattered snow and ice south of Coutts.
