Girl asks for SPCA support for her birthday

Rowynn Biffart is turning 10 years old this month and is hoping Hatters can help make it a birthday to remember.

Rowynn is asking everyone attending her birthday party and the people of Medicine Hat to donate $10 to the SPCA for her birthday.

“She’s turning 10 on the 16th and just wanted to do something special,” says Rochelle Biffart, Rowynn’s mom. “She’s an animal lover and always has been, so she thought it would be neat to try and get anyone and everyone to donate a bit of money to the SPCA.”

Rowynn has had pets her whole life and has always had a great relationship with family and friends’ pets, according to her mom.

“She’s been to the SPCA a few times when they have had their fundraisers,” said Rochelle. “She’s been there and has seen there animals, so she’s aware of the organization and what it does — she really just loves animals.

“We’ve always had pets in the house and she just loves them so much — it’s just great to see your child care about something like this at a young age.”

Even though she is not quite a decade old, this isn’t Rowynn’s first act of generosity.

“She’s just always thought like this — she’s a forward-thinker,” said Rochelle. “A few years back she had her hair cut with her friend and they donated it to Locks for Love.

“She’s not asking for a big gift or anything this year, she’s just hoping people will donate to something she thinks is a good cause.”
