Medicine Hat’s 16th annual Antique and Collectibles show and 11th annual Gun and Hobby show are taking place this weekend at the Stampede grounds.
There will be more than 300 tables set up at the Cypress Centre from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with vendors from all over Canada selling goods.
“It’s going to be a really big year for the show,” said organizer Tim Hittel. “On the antique side we’re going to have everything from glassware, furniture and signs to old coins — it’s just an abundance of old, collectable things.
“There’s a lot of things that people may not have even seen before. There’s going to be some really cool stuff from even the 1800s — the antiques are really great.”
Hittel says the hunting side of the event is just as exciting as the antiques.
“We’ve been doing the antiques for a little longer than the guns but we’re still confident people are going to be very happy,” he said. “This year it’s about half and half with guns and antiques, so no side is getting more than the other.
“There’s going to be new and used guns as well as optics like binoculars — there’s also going to be knives — just anything to do with hunting is going to be at our show.”
Tickets to the show are $5 for adults and kids under 12 get in free of charge.
There will be an ATM on site and free parking. The show will also have a number of door prizes attendees will have a chance to win.
