Medicine Hat News A wave of acclamations have come in ahead of elections in southwest Saskatchewan later this month when residents will choose new representatives in even-numbered divisions of rural municipalities. However, several races will see voting take place, and in several others, the nomination period has been extended when there were no declared candidates. That deadline is Wednesday, ahead of election day on Oct. 24. The R.M. of Swift Current is the busiest in the region closest to the Alberta boundary near Medicine Hat. Voters there will decide seats in two divisions at the polls. Div. 4 candidates are Jim Cadrain, Mark Carefoot, and Keith Prytula. Div. 6 candidates are Gale Nerada and Aaron Tait. Two acclaimed were Philip Wall (Div. 2) and Michael “Butch” Gering (Div. 5). In the R.M. of Maple Creek is seeking nominations for its Division 6 in a second round of nominations that closes Wednesday. Acclamations were registered for Charles Parsonage (Div. 2), Wade Wasilow (Div. 4), and Shawn Kramer (Div. 8). R.M. of Bigstick positions were filled by acclamations for Edward Hammer (Div. 2), Gregory Knodel (Div. 4) and Tyson Jackstiet (Div. 6). R.M. of Pittville saw three candidates acclaimed: Gerald Todd (Div. 2), Steve Robertson (Div. 4), and Alvin Pawlitza (Div. 6). R.M. of Carmichael will await nominations for Div. 6 seat R.M. of Reno will accept nominations for Division 5 on Oct. 3, but recorded five other acclamations: Maureen Hodgins (Div. 2), Elmer Palmer (Div.4), Tim Amundson (Div.6), Linda Brown (Div.8) and Dave Reynolds (Div. 10). R.M. of Gull Lake acclaimed position for Patrick Simpson (Div. 2), Rob Toney (Div. 4), and Jason Craig (Div. 6). R.M. of Clinworth, saw two seats acclaimed by Eugene Eslinger (Div. 4), John Hilger (Div. 6). 17
