Standoff in Riverside ends peacefully

A five-hour standoff that began with counterfeit money being given to a food delivery driver in Riverside ended peacefully on Friday morning and with two people facing charges.
Members of the Medicine Hat Police Service Tactical Team and crisis negotiators were called to the 100 block of Third Street N.W. in the early morning hours of Sept. 28. The MHPS armoured rescue vehicle was also brought to the scene. A 25-year-old male was barricaded in a detached garage and indicated to police that he had a gun and would kill any member who entered. The male had been identified as having 14 outstanding warrants from the RCMP, who reported the man is known to have firearms and ammunition.
Brandon Aman, 25, faces numerous criminal code charges. He will appear for a judicial interim release hearing.
Angel Strandquist, 30, is charged with food fraud, utter counterfeit currency and on outstanding warrants.
