The Beta Sigma Phi sorority will be holding its second annual fashion show early next month in support of two health-related organizations.
“This is our second straight year doing this and we’re using it as a way of fundraising,” said event chair Bev Rhodes. “We’re going to be fundraising for St. Joe’s as well as The Medicine Hat and District Health Foundation.
“It’s just our way of making a bit of an impact on the community as a group.”
The event is on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. Tickets to the show are $35 and it is being held at the in the Cypress Centre Auditorium.
“We’ve got five stores locally here taking part in the fashion show — they’re all Medicine Hat-based stores,” said Rhodes. “We’re having a silent auction with a number of different things in there, there’s hors d’oeuvres and desserts as well as a cash bar.
“It’s going to be a really fun-filled event.”
The event will run for roughly three hours and the group hopes to one-up last year’s efforts.
“Last year we raised nearly $4,000,” said Rhodes. “We had less tickets, but we sold out all of them.
“This year we’re going a bit bigger and selling more tickets — we did 200 last year and now we’re going for 300. The money we raise will be split right down the middle for the two groups we’re donating to.”
There’s a limited number of tickets and they can be purchased by emailing bsp.medhat@gmail.com.
