Medicine Hat News

A radio dealer in Medicine Hat that services oilfield companies is changing ownership.

The Turris Communications outlet in Medicine Hat’s southwest industrial area is one of 12 dealerships under Turris Canada bought by BearCom, it was announced Sept. 11.

That Texas-based company will double its locations in Canada that provide two-way radio products and servicing for oilpatch, mining, industrial and public safety operations.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Turris’s Medicine Hat shop is one of three in Alberta, along with locations in Calgary and Edmonton. Other locations are in Saskatoon, Burnaby, B.C., and seven others in Central Canada.

The Western locations were acquired by Turris from Glentel when it purchased that company in 2015.

The deal announced this week involves only the dealerships and not towers or other business units of Turris, a release states.
