Man faces white supremacy, weapons charges

A Medicine Hat man will appear in court Thursday faced with a variety of white supremacy and weapons charges.

Loki Hulgaard, 35, will face charges of inciting hatred in public and 13 firearms offences.

Police say that on July 31, a complaint was received from a local business regarding a male displaying currency stamped with several hate markings directed towards unnamed persons of the Jewish religious faith. The Priority Street Crimes Unit of the MHPS identified and arrested Hulgaard for incite hatred in public. Hulgaard was arrested and upon searching his backpack, officers located numerous $5 and $20 bills that were stamped with “Jews = ESAU, Jewish White Genocide” and http://www.thezog.info Jewish White genocide.”

As a result of the arrest, a search warrant was executed at the accused’s home where numerous computers, USB drives, white supremacy documents, four firearms (two SKS high powered rifles with serial numbers removed), more than 1,200 rounds of ammunition, high capacity magazines and hate stickers displaying “Immigration = White Genocide” were seized.

Police say a search of the seized computers and USB’s will be completed and further charges may be laid as the investigation continues:

The accused went before a justice of the peace on Aug. 2 and was released on a $4,000 no cash recognizance with numerous conditions.
